Hi

I struggle a lot with socialising and making friends, and it's really difficult for me to get involved because I have very bad anxiety and struggle a lot with stuttering and talking. I recently have been going to football and badminton after work with some colleagues to try socialise more and it's been going well. However, I can't go to badminton anymore because one of the people that goes is making me uncomfortable. This was really upsetting because I enjoyed badminton a lot, and I was starting to make friends there.

As I only have football now, I thought I'd be okay. But I just got my timetable for my apprenticeship and the last lesson is from 16:00-17:00 and that conflicts with football, so I now can't go to that either.

It's really upsetting because I've put a lot of effort into going to football and badminton as it's really far outside of my comfort zone. I only have one other person I can talk to now, but he's about to go back to uni and it's far away so I won't be able to see him much until next summer.

I know it's ridiculous of me to feel this upset by it, but I would really like a bit of advice if anyone has any.

Thanks and sorry

Hi there,

I know exactly how you feel as I also struggle with socialising and making friends. I know it sounds really difficult, but my only advice I would say is for you to continue going Badminton.

Honestly, you have a right to do the hell you want in this world, you have the right to play the sport too. If you enjoy the sport then carrying on doing it!! DON'T ALLOW!!! these people to get you down or making you uncomfortable.

They are the one's who are uncomfortable within themselves as they look at you play think your'e a good player.

*The only thing to help with anxiety is to do things out of your comfort zone*

No need to apologise either, hope this helps & Good Luck (:

I know I shouldn't stop going to badminton, it's just a difficult situation. I also preferred football a lot more and was more comfortable there as I work closer with the people that went. I'm just going to miss it a lot, and feel like I've reached the point where making friends is impossible for me. Every time I try, something prevents it and it's getting harder to cope with.

Thank you very much for your response it's helpful

I'm not a man, and that's not helpful

Either way grow up, im guessing your 18 so act like it, pitying yourself is not helpful as well. What do you actually want said to you? You just need to grow up
I was asking for advice from people who struggle with anxiety as well. If you don't have any advice, that's okay. Please don't be rude though, it's not helpful at all. Age is irrelevant to the problem
