Hey there, just done 1 yr of sales and trading and not loving it. Hours are ok and pay is good but job is so menial and all about procedures with 0 creativity. I’m planning on doing a masters and using that into Segwaying into a more qualitative, creative aspect of finance. I am thinking of sticking at it for 1 more yr to look serious on a cv and not like a job hopper but does anyone work in a part of finance they really really enjoy? Also , feel free to share your experiences

Why not try to internally move to Research, sounds like more your wheelhouse?

But I hope you realise that most entry level roles in finance offer very little creativity for the first year or so because you're basically still absorbing and learning everything. In fact this isn't even unique to finance. You go through the motions at first then you start getting agency.

+1 equity research is certainly more qualitative, but as you point out, op definitely still risks feeling stifled - you will get managers who insist on ridiculous-sounding nitpicks for your work kind of like the procedures in sales and trading
