Are history, biology, chemistry and core maths good for law. I have heard you only need one essay based subject but will not taking english literature or an epq etc. make my application less competitive

Interesting choices! History will be very good for law as it is essay based and analytical, and it helps you develop arguing and persuasive skills - all traits needed for law! As for the science subjects you have, I'd say they're pretty well respected subjects so I don't think you will be at much of a disadvantage. Plus, it will show that you are good at problem solving, analytical and logical which is also important for lawyers. Hope this helps! All the best!
