What happens if I have an operation at the time of my exams?

Hi I’m currently in year 11 and have scoliosis - i have an appointment due later this year to discuss treatment for my condition. If surgery is deemed to be the best option and occurs around the time of my exams, what will happen? Would it be rescheduled and perhaps disrupt my start to sixth form? Thanks in advance!

It's up for negotiation as to what is in your best interests and is possible. I've known people have operations during the exam period, both elective and emergency. It's possible to be given a grade if you miss some (but not all) of the assessment for a GCSE and it's also possible to take exams in hospital or at home. YOu need to talk to your consultant and the school to work out the best way forward for you.
