Student Loan Payments blocked

Applied for a tuition fee loan + maintenance loan but the payments are blocked and the only thing I'm told is to call the number provided. Is there some way for me to find out why they're blocked without having to call in?

I know the possibilities are that my NIN is being checked, that my bank account is wrong or they need more evidence - I have submitted all requested evidence and I'm fairly sure my bank account details are correct. Is there some reason they couldn't just say my NIN is currently being checked?

I'm worried as my Maintenance Loan was supposed to be paid out yesterday but got blocked and I was hoping to buy course books today. If payments are unblocked, will this overdue payment be sent through?
