We are FOR

- British integration with Europe.
- The belief that the UK must take an active role within the European Union if it is going to remain a member.
- The celebration of the astonishing diversity of cultures, nationalities, ethnicities and languages within this relatively small landmass.
- The idea that Britain is stronger standing side by side with her neighbours than subsisting as a remote, isolated island.

We are AGAINST

- Knee-jerk jingoism and isolationism that prevents this country becoming more integrated within Europe.
- Xenophobia and racism in all its forms.
- The small minded, 'Little-Englander' mentality.

We exist to

- Promote debate and discussion regarding the United Kingdom's relations with Europe.
- Discuss economic issues between Britain and Europe, such as the European Union and the European Single Currency (€uro).
- Refute misguided and xenophobic anti-Europe sentiment.
- Refute the idea of British isolationism.

We do NOT exist to

- Unswervingly support all the actions of particular institutions, such as the European Union and European Central Bank.
- Unswervingly support the proliferation of the €uro currency throughout Europe.
- Abuse or insult.

This society is open to Brits, Europeans, or citizens of the World of any age, race, religion or background who feels that Europe holds a strong part in shaping Britain's future, or who are generally fond of the people and traditions of Europe. This is NOT a political group, and pro-Europeans of any political bent are welcome. To those who propose a Socialist Federal Republic of Europe, to Libertarians who support pan-European free trade, all are welcome.

If this passes as support for integration in your eyes I will join this as well as the anti-EU one.

Well essentially I didn't make this with the intention of supporting particular institutions, it's to celebrate the general idea of a thriving Europe within which Britain plays a key role.

Okay, I presume you mean this to be in support of the European Union, which is not synonymous with Europe.

Also, how can you claim to support debate on the issue when you call opposition to the EU nothing more than knee-jerk jingoism.

- Refute misguided and xenophobic anti-Europe sentiment.
So you want to see a one party system with no effective accountability in the parliament?

Also, what is xenophobic about wanting to remain trade partners with EU member states, but not wishing to see vast amounts of national sovereignty surrendered superfluously? I love "Europe"; I'm bilingual in two European languages and wish to travel round Europe when I finish university. But just because I love these countries doesn't mean that I have to believe progress towards a federal state is the solution.

It is strongly implied, but the specifics of what he wrote don't seem to rule out being in this society and being against the EU.

That said, I don't really like the sort of European Nationalism that has emerged in some quarters independent of the EU, either.

Hurrah etc.

I'm quite excited about this proposed EU-Canada agreement allowing for free trade and the free movement of workers.

No, I explicitly stated in the original post that to be Pro-European you don't necessarily have to be in favour of particular European institutions such as the EU. I didn't call opposition to the EU knee-jerk jingoism, I called anti-Europeanism knee-jerk jingoism.
