I started uni on Monday and I've been struggling to make friends. I went out one night with people in my course and enjoyed it, but I don't drink or vape or smoke so I felt quite excluded after a while. I've talked to a good few people here and there but none have became friends. I've my fresher's fair next week and I'm hoping to join some clubs and societies to try make friends that way. I'm just feeling down lately with the lonlieness of it so far. Not sure if anybody can relate.

Same I felt really bad for a few days but then I realised it's not so bad being alone in your course. As long as people are friendly

People have been very friendly, I get on well with most people, but I've always preferred to have two really strong friends over 20 people I can be friendly with if that makes sense.

It takes time to find people that you will form deep connections with. Sorry, but give it at least a year. You might get lucky.

It takes a while to form a solid connection with someone. Just keep saying yes to opportunities to socialise.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling this way!

It's completely relatable, so many people will be in the exact same boat as you. Did you attend Fresher's Fair and join any clubs or societies? It's great to hear you were hoping to join so, they're such good ways to meet people with similar interests to you, making conversation that bit easier

You could even have a think about becoming a student ambassador to get involved in uni events or see if there's any volunteering work you can do. You could even get a part-time job on campus and meet new people that way.

I preferred to focus on my studies when I was a student, I wasn't interested in going out and drinking, everyone experiences uni life differently. There's no right or wrong way, so don't put too much pressure on yourself

Good luck with everything.
