Write in form (x+p)^2 +q
x^2 -3x+9

Leave p and q as fractions

I think for this question you need to complete the square. Have you learnt that at school yet?

It's completing the square:
So if you had x^2 + 2x +4, you would do-
(x+1)^2 +4 (Put first two terms in bracket, and half the second term whilst removing the x. Keep the 4 outside)
= (x+1)^2 -1 +4 (Square the second term in the bracket and put it as a minus outside)
= (x+1)^2 +3 (final result)
Apply this technique to your question.
