Just joined my university groupchats and basically there are people so far ahead in life at the same academic stage as me.

Basically I feel like a loser who wasted his time.

Any advice?

These people probably came from private education/international/elite backgrounds. They have a leg up. Just because you haven’t had the same opportunities doesn’t make you less. In a way, it’s impressive since your doing the same course as them. What university is this? This is common with elite institutions. Is this medicine? Im in a similar position and the culture can get toxic tbh.

Focus on you. It's likely the people boasting about money had a wealth of opportunity under their belt already.

But you ended up in the same place as them. You deserve to be there as much as them, don't feel discouraged.

SAMEEEEE. I hate it here. Honestly don’t worry some class mate of mine got dropped of by her husband in a lambo. She’s from Dubai and I’m here with the same outfit I wore yesterday. Don’t compare, you’re brilliant.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear that you feel like that. The most important thing to remember is to avoid comparing yourself to other people and instead, compare yourself to where you were 6 months ago, or a year ago for example. You'll soon realise 'oh yes, I ended up getting a place at university' or 'I managed to get a good grade in that assignment. Everyone is on a different path at different paces, so comparisons aren’t really relevant. I'm sure everyone can name that one, or a few, friend that seems to have it all figured out, but everyone has their own problems and it's important to remember that, regardless of the face they choose to show to the public.

Stay positive and all the best with the rest of your studies.
