Hi, I’m wondering if what we post in the tutor group forums count towards our final grades or TMA grades? Or is this just a way to socialise and share ideas? I’m often ahead of the timeframe they give you to work by and sometimes forget to post in them but don’t want my grade to be effected if so

It depends on the activities.
It should tell you whether it is compulsory/marked.

They are often worthwhile doing though so do try to carve out time to go back and join in when the time comes.

I have never used them either however bear the below in mind.

1) I write an essay and it is the only contact I have with my tutor
I get marked down quite a bit for not understanding the specific topic of that essay.

2) i write an essay and I am a frequent poster on the forums
I get marked down slightly for not explaining the topic correctly. Due to my forum posts the tutor knows i clearly understand the topic very well, so she knows my essay issue was more to do with my writing skills than my comprehension.

That said she of course needs to mark my essay for what it is, but if she gives me a little score boost she at least has the forum posts to back up her reasoning for that score. Plus this is all just me guessing, I have no idea if that is how it would all play out lol, it is just something i have been mindful of (not that it was enough to actually make me bother posting on the Unit forums ha ha).

It depends on what the TMA includes. Some may want you to talk about something and screenshot it to put in the document, or just post and gain a few marks.

Other than that people usually discuss things/socialise, etc
