So basically I really want to quit my part time job for many reasons, I’ve only been working there for a bit over 2 months. I’ve thought about staying there a bit longer just to make sure of my decision but I really don’t want to anymore

- the pay is really bad (minimum wage for a 17 year old - £4.62 an hour)
- I need to focus on my studies
- I don’t even need a job
- it’s getting in the way of my life/ free time
So I know I want to quit, but I don’t know how to go about it. My contract says 3 months is the probation period, so I can give one weeks notice. But I’m thinking of just giving 2 weeks instead
I want to speak to my manager after my shift- what do I tell her?

Tell her what you said here and you should be fine.
In my opinion your reasoning is sound.

Jobs offer more than wages. What else do.you do in your free time that will give you transferrable skills for your CV?

Very true
Could you not look for another job with less hours? That way you can concentrate on your studies, and you can still have a bit of money coming in, be gaining skills etc.

Good point, thanks. At this point I don't really want to have a job, but will still be gaining skills from my volunteering job (I need to do this to get into my uni course, as it looks good on my personal statement). Thanks for your reply
