Doctors in Lithuania found over a kilo of nails and screws in an ex-alcoholic's stomach when he came in reporting abdominal pains.

Apparently he had been swallowing the DIY objects as a substitute for drinking.

I hope when he thanked the doctors, he minded his B & Qs.

The man, who was not identified for reasons of patient confidentiality, was admitted to hospital in the Baltic port city of Klaipeda with severe abdominal pain.
I think everyone in the Baltic port city of Klaipeda knows the dude who used to drink excessively, then started eating metal, and has now been advised by doctors to drink excessively again.

Sounds like he had a bizarre case of pica.. god only knows how he managed to swallow some of those without punching holes in himself. The mere thought of trying to pass one of those things, damn. Poor sod needs a rehab facility, or a simple bottle of vodka - that being much less dangerous at this point.
