I've recently been looking at masters courses and one of them requires a year of relevant work experience or another supporting factor. I was wondering what could be considered a supporting factor. Thanks.

I would suggest contacting the university admissions/ course leader and asking them.

You don’t say what the Masters is, but if they are asking for practical experience I presume it is vocational and they might consider other, relevant experience or substantive experience prior to starting your degree. Alternatively, they may accept other evidence of your ability or aptitude, such as conference papers.
