What do you want to do in oxford, what gcse grades u got / are predicted. How many A levels are you doing / what subjects. Are you good with interviews? What subjects did you do in GCSE? Are you doing an EPQ? With this info, i can calculate ur probability / and give tips.

Do you wanna read a subject that requires an admissions test? If it is, if you score well and you went to a state school you have a decent shot at interview. If you did your GCSEs in 2020 with CAGs then they may take them with a pinch of salt.

Depends a lot on what course you want to apply to.

Medicine, almost certainly not - GCSEs are one of only two factors they consider when inviting to interview, and it's so oversubscribed that with weaker GCSEs you would almost be guaranteed to not get interviewed.

Materials science/maths/engineering/physics? Quite possible, if you got strong results in the relevant subjects and do well on the MAT/PAT.

Your CV is unlikely to be considered unless you are a mature applicant (and even then isn't likely to make much difference because all degrees at Oxford are necessarily academic and so work experience won't ameliorate poor academics).

Also no-one can "calculate your probability" because that's not how the admissions process at Oxford works.

No worries,
ummm so I did really bad at GCSE's so I know there's probs no ways they would even look at my application but I was just generally curious if there is anyway I can redeem myself lol and plus I know Oxford is for generally all the smart people and Im as thick as a brick lol. So I guess I may need to retake some of them or all of them lmaooo
History- 5 Maths - 5 foundation English Lit- 5 English Lang-4 Drama- 5 Geography- 5 Double Science- (3/4 oof will not be taking this at uni lol)
Rs- 4
So yeah im kinda screwed lol

Cuz its business im guessing maths and geography and double science would effect it. Is ur School a crap school. That progress OML, 3 A* would be amazing cuz thats a massive progress. Ive met people that got all 9s and 8s that cant achieve that. It doesnt hurt to apply though, and it could suit as a lesson too. Could you redo your GCSEs?
Are there any other options for u?

Heya,
So I haven't got my predicted grades or anything like that yet lol but hopefully I am aiming for 3 A*. I think I could retake the GCSE's but it would probs cost a lot of money but I guess its worth it in the long run lol. Also I guess my school is good considering its private and thats true thank you xx.Tbh this is just an idea for now Im kinda just looking around at Universities that's why lol x
Thnx again for the great advice xx

Better off applying to Cambridge as they place less emphasis on GCSEs.

Oxford does not offer Business and Management. You should look at the course, not just which university you'd like to go to. You're looking at things backwards. Cambridge is also out of the question because they don't offer your subject.

Also, as far as I know, Oxford doesn't like resits.

This. Interested in Economics and Finance instead? They seem a bit better and more specialised.

I had a similar issue. My grades were really competitive but Oxbridge are so narrow minded on what courses they offer for anything that isn’t a pure humanity or language. So for science or business or anything like that it is worth not going there, which is a shame as people still think they’re the be all and end all when they literally don’t offer modern subjects. They want to make diplomats and politicians.
