Xbox series X to be discontinued?

Hearing it’s possible the Xbox X could be discontinued due to severe difficulty getting components namely chips for its assembly. I can kind of understand if this happens. The Xbox X is very scarce in shops. MS has probably invested millions in the design and production of the console but due to poor productivity they’ve only produced a fraction of them compared to what they should have and that means sales are really low.

After nearly a year they’ve probably only sold barely 10% of what they should have sold. Xbox X are really scarce in shops and online with the few that do appear being bought instantly by scalpers who sell them for eye watering prices often hundreds of pounds more than the normal retail price of £449.99. I’ve seen them online going for £750 each! Probably selling for a lot more as Christmas approaches. A time when shelves in shops like Curry’s etc should be stacked high with a healthy abundance series X consoles. But sadly none are to be found :frown: Also added to the fact few people can get one then there isn’t the market for the software that you’d use on an Xbox X. So software producers are losing out too.

It would be a real shame if Xbox X is discontinued because it seems a really fantastic console and the only console that can play Microsoft flight simulator 2020, saving simulator users from pulling out several thousand pounds on a decent gaming PC.

Hearing

You know what I heard on the playground?

- Johnny Knoxville died during a stunt

- Frodo and Sam have a kissing scene in the LOTR film

- Drinking honeysuckle will kill you

- If you say "bloody mary" 3 times in the toilet, she'll appear and kill you

- That you have to switch off the NES when it gets warm or it will explode and kill you.

- That I have an evil identical twin and anything bad I did or said or that happened was actually them encountering my evil twin (...I spread this one)

Then there's what I heard in actual lessons: light can't bend, Japan is an LEDC (Lower Economically Developed Country), and the contraceptive pill is shoved up the vagina and is 99% effective... against what? Sex I guess?

Wait, what was the question?

Oh yes, one of the biggest players in the gaming industry are just going to sit out this generation due to a chip shortage in the launch year... Definitely gonna happen and not completely ridiculous

Sadly some times there’s no choice. If you owned a fried chicken shop and your supply of chicken was significantly reduced so much that you couldn’t offer chicken on the menu your business would suffer. You'd lose customers (they would go elsewhere) and you’d have over heads and staff to pay, soon you’d be running at a loss. The only choice would be to either change what you sell or close down.
Same with Xbox. As people struggle to find them they are just giving up and getting another type of console. MS has overheads the same only far more massive and might have to make changes. With the series X they’re just not getting the money back they’re running at a loss keeping it going :frown:

Microsoft are not running at a loss at all, they've recently bought massive studios like Bethesda. There is absolutely zero chance of them discontinuing the Series X before the next console generation.

Im hearing Sony to announce they're discontinuing the PS5 (both models) for this very reason.

Do you think it'll be announced at CES?
