I applied for a job with my cities council, which is a clerical officer. I got an email today which states:

This assessment will form 3 parts which will consist of:-

A listening/communication exercise
Microsoft Excel exercise
Microsoft Word exercise

Does anyone have any ideas as to what to expect with these sort of things? I’m deaf, I can hear but the communication and listening may be hard if they aren’t aware. Should I email them and ask them whether it’ll impact/cause an issue for my deafness?

Hello

The communication exercise will really test your listening ability. It may even involve a telephone. You may be expected to take some brief notes. And yes do inform them in advance.

Regarding the other parts of your interview, this is what to expect. In terms of the other exercises you might be told to type anything. And again pay attention to instructions given etc.
