Why am I not allowed a maintenance loan if I'm distance learning with OU? I do not live with my parents. I don't understand how me living on my own is any different to if I was in student accommodation? I can't afford to do my course if I can't get a maintenance loan as I would only be able to work part time, which wouldn't cover my rent.

Hi Becky,

Distance Learners are not entitled to a Maintenance Loan, unless you have a disability that prevents you from attending a physical university.

Thanks, Isaac
