International Medical University Malaysia

Helloo 😊

I am currently 18 years old and interested in studiying medicine. My future plan is to pursue a medicine degree from a medical school in UK, applying for foundation years after graduating, and eventually specialising/ doing my postgraduate studies later on.

I have 2 pathways to go about. Either I do A-Levels ( 21 months programme ) and apply directly to UK medical schools ( 6 years or 5 years medicine programme ) or enroll into foundation programme ( a 1 year pre university programme ) in International Medical University (IMU ) Malaysia and then proceed with the partner medical school programme offered by International Medical University which allows medical students during the second half of medicine studies to transfer abroad to the UK medical schools listed in the programme. The final degree is from the selective UK medical school. I am currently enrolled into A Levels programme but still a little unsure.

Which pathway would be wiser ? I am aware both ways have their own respective pros and cons. I am keen in applying to top ranking medical schools in UK as well as completing my foundation years / housemanship in UK. Which of these pathways would increase my chances ?

Would really appreciate your advise and opinion on this matter. I am just a little worried that I might graduate quite late from a basic medicine degree especially if I do the 6 year programme compared to those who opt for an alternative like studiying in IMU and then transfering. Thank you so much for the help again truly !!
Thank you for the advice !!
Could I ask what was your reason for advicing me to do A Levels instead of the transfer programme ? It would help me make a clearer option. Thanks again 😄
