If you get asked a question, sensory neurons pick up the sound and this information is processed in the auditory cortex. To answer this, relay neurons associated with memory need to be activated to recall the answer and then neurons associated with language to formulate the answer. Motor neurons in the tongue and mouth then produce the speech required.
