Coastal Engineering

Hi! Could anybody tell me what type of undergrad degree would be preferable to have when applying for the Msc in Coastal Engineering? Are there specific courses that need to be followed prior to the Msc? I am an international student really interested by this program.
Thank you!

Hey Gabrielle3401,

Nice to hear you're considering the Coastal Engineering MSc! It's a great course and you couldn't have chosen a better option than Plymouth for anything to do with the coast or marine environments (one of the perks of living in Britain's Ocean City ).

Our website says you will need "Minimum of a lower second class honours degree (2:2) in engineering or physical science subject e.g. geography, environmental science or physics".

So basically if you've studied a related discipline and got the grades you should be able to apply for this particular course.

Now, when it comes down to the optional modules, you might want to align those with what you have studied previously - for example if you already have experience with GIS then you would probably consider the Remote Sensing and GIS (MAR518) module to further your knowledge, but if you don't like computers you might want to consider another optional module :smartass:.

More info here on the website: https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/msc-coastal-engineering

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!
