What to approach for BVC?

If a person is LLB qualified in Law from Pakistan, having done his LLM from UK, and even after completing his post graduation hes not considered as a qualified lawyer in England or Wales, what he has to do to join the BVC besides doing GDL, can he approach something else?

I'm not certain, but could you sit the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test and qualify as a solicitor advocate afterward? It wouldn't make you a barrister but you'd have the same rights of access.

I don't believe that there's a way to approach the English bar without a qualifying English law degree or an English graduate diploma in law, no, but I'm not an expert, so I certainly wouldn't regard my word as final.
Ok, i got you, thanks for the info though, m a law graduate from Karachi, Pakistan, wana do BVC, but the officails i contacted to at UK Bar Academic Board, its was told dat i can only b eligible to Bar if i get the Certificate of Academic Standing and qualify for GDL, instead of that thy guy advised me not to go for GDL but for LLM, m confused, can u tell me in what regard QLTT can assist me, or where i get fit myself if m a international non EU student nd wana be Barrister or atleast Solicitor besides going through the CAB route?

To get on the BVC you will need a law degree. If the Bar Council say that your LLB is not recognised, then you will need to do the GDL, and then move onto the BVC.

I am unsure what the LLM would help with though. I would have thought it was much higher, but the Bar Council would have the final say.

The Certificate of Academic Standing is a simple form to fill in and a couple of references that say you do have a brain and will cope with the course. That should be simple for you.

I managed to get the certificate, do the GDL and am now on the BVC.

If you are lucky, you can skip the GDL because I found it hard work. The BVC is a breeze compared to it.

Yeah that unsurity is the concern, LLM is a higher academics but it doesnt fulfil the criteria to get the bosses satisfied to enable one to enter the Bar course, a degree which is not recognized has no value in other words atleast to gain the professional qualifications in UK.

I dont c any help doing LLM for BVC as its useless atleast to approach BVC,

so you guys prefer me to go for Law graduation Graduate route, as its reliable nd can be as qualified law degree, furthermore which Uni is gud at reputation as well as on the financial concern???

Hi Everyone !

This is a very old one but I had to bump in due to the lack of info here on the certificate of academic standing. So I am from Pakistan too, however I qualified from a Australian Uni. So how are my chances of getting a certificate of academic standing I do not have impressive grades and neither do I have a honours. However I do have 16 years of education Alevels+3yrs Bachelors from a good uni but not a good gpa ? Any help guys as I assume you would have been way done with all your studies by now.
