Freederm causing more spots..?

Hi,

So I have mild acne, so I thought I'd give freederm a go as my stuff from my GP has run out. I started using it on saturday, but since then, I've gotten loads of little whiteheads everyday, and it's actually made my skin worse. I was hoping to get my skin under control during the half term before I go back to college, but now... :frown: Do you think I should stop using it? I've heard this happens with most products when you first use them. "Things will get worse before it gets better" But I just dunno what to do.

Thanks.
Go back to the doctors and get some more of whatever you were on if that was working, otherwise get something different. Freederm is ok at reducing redness, but i've never found it to be very effective. Go and buy some quinnederm from the chemist, 5% strength. Twice a day very very gently wash your face in lukewarm soapy water, pat dry with a soft towel. Now sqeeze the quinnederm along one of your fingers, thats how much to use each time. Rub it gently all over your face, not jsut teh affected area. It should start to dry up in a day or two. If it gets too dry, only do it once a day or once every 2 days, and use a water based moisturiser.
I read the title, but not what you wrote - sorry!

I would agree totally, its a waste of time, it gave me more too! Damn thing. I got Quinoderm from Tesco and that was much, much better!

resok where did you order it from

am really crossa bout the freederm - it cost about 8 quid a bottle and i only use it once - i usually use clearsil but its stopped being effective now :frown:
Try Tetralysal. My doctor prescribed me it and I've noticed a bit of a difference  I was given a box of them and some cream (I can't remember the name of the cream). But yeah, tetralysal is a tablet/drug. It appears to have no side effects on me. It's nothing 'hardcore' like roaccutane so don't worry.
The problem with most spot treatments is that they try to tackle the spots by drying out your skin, which makes your skin produce more oils to combat that. I haven't found a proper remedie yet, what I can get prescribed from the doctors works best though, but i ran out a week ago... but i need to book an appointment which takes like 1-2 weeks. Its so annoying cuz it feels like there all coming back fast and ugly! Yuk!- I feel like they will never leave my face whatever I do!!!!!
Ratsr
There are these antibiotic tablets which are used for people who are allergic to penicillin. It is red and begins with "e". If you get your doctor to prescribe those, all your spots will go from 1 day to 2.

As soon as you stop taking them, you'll get like 50% of your spots back no matter how clean you are.

I don't and never have had acne or problems with spots, but that'll help. The antibiotic that I'm suggesting kills all the spot-related bacteria like staphococus (I think this is the bacteria I am thinking of) very well =P

erythromicin... i used that for like 6 months and it did nothing for me!

I've probably used every product/drug there is on the market, none of the over the counter creams/lotions, etc.. ever did anything except a few made it worse.

As much as i hate it, roaccutane did get rid of pretty much all of my spots, but it had the side affect of making my skin Very red, and 3 years later it's still not recovered, and probably never will. If it's really a problem AND you don't have naturally dry skin already, then that drug could work, but i'd be careful with it, as it's not got the best reputation.

But like i said, over the counter products, and all those nonsense things form doctors like oxytetricycline or whatever the bloody hell it's called, never did anything for me except make them worse..God i hated that, it was always "Expect it to get worse before it gets better", so i continually went through the worsening stage, but never the getting better stage =@

I suspect after using so many different things your skin eventually starts to build up a resistance to them anyway, so they would do less.

Hey I currently use Freederm..
And I have to say its very good my face is currently very clear and is spot free compared to how it was before where it was spotty and sorta unclear.

I changed to freederm from Clearasil and I got more spots to start off since changing but gradually the difference in my skin showed..

So I'd say give it some time..New products do not always make a difference straight away.

There are no miracle cures though roaccutane might be the closest thing yet. Just because something worked for you don't expect it to work for anyone else.
I started using it the other day and it seems to be doing the same thing in not sure if it's meant to but i looked to see and couldn't fine the answer
I bought the moisteriser and cleanser I use them both in the morning and night and at night I put sudecreme on after but my spots seem to be getting worse I only bought it 4 days ago so I'm hoping it's just bringing my spots out to get rid
