why did your school only allow 5 gcses?

No they allowed 7 but i failed 2 i got a 3 in RE and another 3 in geography because i missed an exam but i think that i could have gotten better grades than 4 because while i was supposed to study for gcses school closed down due to covid and we started online learning and i personally found that really difficult i think that it is fair on us as students that we had that big of a disadvantage and what the government doesn’t realise is that these grades might bring our whole carrer that we might want down

Oxford Brookes is a university with a very easy application criteria, some would say there is no application criteria. You could get in without any GCSEs, but compare that to the actual oxford university, where 7 9s is sometimes not enough. I always find it funny that they have a common name but wildly different application criteria

Most Unis only specify GCSE grades in Maths and/or English and for many courses thats only a grade 4.
Mnay STEM subject in particular will want higher GCSE Maths grades.
Far more important are your A level predicted grades and your Personal Statement.

it depends what uni you want to go to. The Open University (OU) doesn't have any required grades, so this can be your back-up.

Very possibly yes - a grade 4 is a pass in maths and English, and for many universities that is all that is required. More competitive universities might want to see a higher grade in English, so you would need to carefully check this before applying. Don't just apply to a uni which stipulates a certain GCSE grade which you don't have on the hope that they might accept you: it's the easiest way to an automatic rejection.

you should be okay, depending on what university you want to go to and why you got the grades you did, you might be able to get into a decent/good uni if you have a good reason for why you got the grades you did, unstable family life, bad mental health, bad physical health etc. if you don't tho, don't worry about it, you'll definitely be able to get into a uni if your sure you want to do that, but I wouldn't advise going into law from a university that no only isn't a Russell group but isn't a top Russell group, law is oversaturated and extremely competitive, the only reason it's so highly touted is because before it was under saturated and remained competitive. in terms of salary and safety. it's extremely hard to do well in law but with you knowing that if your still kuku enough to do it, I would say go for it.

Oxford Brookes is a university

You jest of course and give false information - it's got some top rated courses like Motorssort Engineering. The FACT that many grads are actvey sought by F1 and regularly excels at Formula Student tells me FAR mor than your post.

It's teaching is good and its facilites for supporting all studenst are far better - read the recent thread about how Oxford University are treating one of its students and reflect again ...

What makes you think OP is applying for Engineering? The information about Formula 1/Formula Student is not relevant to most courses. And I doubt OP is interested in Oxford uni either.

And your point is? I was replying to someone who trashed a university ... as most people will realise.

That you always talk about Motorsport Engineering when anyone mentions Oxford Brookes but their excellence in that area is not relevant unless you’re applying for Engineering

That

I said it was an EXAMPLE - I could mention many others e.g. Primary teaching, computer courses, robotics, biological sciences etc etc

I was talking about the application criteria not the content of the courses that are provided. I wouldn't even class motorsport engineering as a course. The student support and facilities in most UK universities are the same.

People love trashing on lower ranked unis to try and make themselves feel superior, but what they don't realise is that different unis are better for different things. You can go to a better ranked uni and actually be shooting yourself in the foot because your specific course isn't as targeted as another lower ranked unis when it comes to starting a career.

This is just another example of TSR toxicity.

I was talking

You still need decent grades to get in -

The facilities at Brookes are industry standard across a number of degrees - maybe you need to look into this more? All Brookes lecturers are qualified to teach in a university - not true in most.

I have no connection with this university other than sending students to study there amongst many other universities.

BBB is not EEE ... and more likely to get a job at the end of your degree.

Some people with top grades [A*A*A*A*] actually choose to go there because of the reputation of their courses .

Btw - you are taking the thread off topic so kindly stop.
