First Year Economics Internships

Does anyone know of any internship schemes related to Economics which are open to first-year students? Only one I've been able to find is the Bank of England which is opening later this month.

I'm considering spring weeks but I'm on a 4-year course and a little late applying, so I might leave those until next year.
First year internships are very much a banking/finance thing. So yeah BofE is pretty much the extent of it. Go for SWs anyway, first year is easy and the practice is useful.

Thanks, is it not too late to apply for a SW? I'd read most deadlines are Sep/Oct

Instead of reading about deadlines from third party sources you could take 20 seconds to look for yourself and find out if you're right or wrong.

Spring apps are barely open by September, let alone closing. Though it is best to apply early as all guides will state.

First year Econ internships are only really possible at small boutique type firms, typically in economic consulting. The only other alternative for Econ internships in first year is think tanks (e.g. places like the institute of economic affairs, policy exchange, IPPR, ASI, etc). Worth baring the political bent of the think tanks in mind before applying tho.

There's not really any formal summer internship schemes at big firms for economists for first years. They mostly start at second year. I'd recommend applying to spring weeks, it can really help and even if not successful, the process sets you up for success the next year.
