I want to study Natural Sciences at various universities that ask for no more than 38 points maximum, but with 766 HL. I am currently at 775, with 777 at SL. Biology is just such a difficult subject, but I really enjoy it and want to study it further during the Natural Sciences course. My other two Highers are Physics and Economics. So while they are asking for 38 points at the extreme (Durham) and I am achieving 42 points (40+2 for EE and TOK) but don't have 766, is there a point in applying, or will they just instantly reject me?

Email and ask each uni. The worst reply you can get is a refusal, but at least you won't waste a choice. I'd mail rather than call so that there is a written trace.
