Shamelssy nicked off another forum. Here are the England starting line ups for the first game in every major tournament since 1996. Which do you think is best? I would go for 1996, just edging out 2004. Although that said, the one that started against NI/Azerbaijan is better than them both.

1996:

...........Seaman
Neville Adams Southgate Pearce
Anderton Ince Gasgcoine McManaman
........Shearer Sheringham

1998:
............Seaman
Campbell Adams Southgate Le Saux
Anderton Ince Batty Scholes
.........Shearer Sheringham

2000:
...........Seaman
Neville Adams Campbell P. Neville
Beckham Ince Scholes McManaman
........Shearer Owen

2002:
..........Seaman
Mills Ferdinand Campbell Cole
Beckham Scholes Hargreaves Heskey
........Vassel Owen

2004:
.........James
Neville King Campbell Cole
Beckham Lampard Gerrard Scholes
.......Rooney Owen

I hope Danny Mills never plays for England at right back again. He was terrible.

but he really wasnt, I would agree that he doesnt appear to be England class but in the World Cup he was one of our most consistant performers and didnt put a foot wrong.

anyway I think out of them 96 is the best by quite a distance

The greatest event in sports

More popular than rugby, cricket, and the World Cup combined (**in the United States that is), the NCAA mens basketball tournament begins this week. Anyone here keep up with college basketball? Who are you pulling for?

For those of you who don’t know what it is. The NCAA men’s tournament is the month long, single elimination, championship for college basketball. The top 64 teams (including all conference winners) participate in this tournament, held at the end of the basketball season. The best teams in the country who do not play each other during the regular season all battle it out for the National Championship. The tournament is very intense and fans travel all over the country to watch their teams play in every game.

Its a lot of fun to fill out a bracket with your predictions among friends each putting in a few dollars and the winner taking the pot. It is a very big deal in the states, growing up, they let us watch these games in school.

Here is a link to the bracket.

And WHAT A FINAL to end it all.

Fantastic match, Illonois relied on 3-pointers way to much and had little inside.

North Carolina played well, and deserved the win - they fell to sleep a little bit which allowed the opposition to come back to tie up at 70, after leading by about 15, but when it came down to it, Illonois didn't fancy driving to the basket and drawing the foul, instead going for the 3.

Live by the 3, die by the 3.

Anyone know what type of cancer it is? At least they've caught it early, my elderly grandfather passed away literally minutes ago and his was only detected in the last year.
It's cancer of the colon.

You know that isn't actually his name, he's called Augustine Okocha, even he doesn't know where Jay Jay came from.

Stelios Giannakopoulos (Bolton Wanderers winger) what a brilliant name!

Roque Santa Cruz (Bayern Munich striker) sounds like a right party name!

Not a footballer, but the best name of any sportsman is basketball player Randy Duck.
