2 seasons ago she won 3 out of the 4 Grand slams and reached the semi's at wimbledon, I think... She's the most gifted women's player on the tour! she's even got a one handed backhand what more could you want

... and Maria's never won a clay court tournament before.
Ya i agree she is a great player but certainly not the Henin she was before her indjury n thats her own words " I cannot get back to my best after last years indjury (Virus)".
Im not saying Maria as hot fav to win i just want her to win.

Mauresmo is the biggest choker alive. No doubt shes a great player but with the pressure of the French crowd on her I cant see it happening. Her best result at Roland Garros is the quarter finals.
Thats wat i think abt clijsters she is not a big match player coz she cant handle the pressure, those situations tell how good player u r but she lost to Henin in the final easily she is just not the same player when it comes to semis n finals of grandslams on the other hand Sharapova won her first n only final of grandslam n that is the biggest occasion (Wimbledon) in tennis moreover won it against Sareena.... she is just 17 man even if she lost she has a great career ahead.

liverpool suck....they were outplayed by milan..couldn't get ne passing together....traore was garbage....dudek is still the problem even with his few heroics (heck..he's paid to make saves) Carra is overrated, cisse is a ballhog, baros is too weak, can't win the ball. Xabi is hardly ever seen in matches...nunez, josemi, kewell....wtf!!....Gerrard, Garcia - - > CLASS!

I rest my case. Benitez may have won teh champions league but his side hasn't won over their many critics (including me). I agree that they did beat the top sides, but each had it's own element of luck. IN my opinion, destiny and fate was definately on their side. I believe Houlllier really made some terrible transfer buys durng his reign and I kinda feel sorry for benitez. Let's just face it, liverpool have a huge class divide between a few (about 3-4) top class players and the rest really really average players.

Prediction for Next Year: 5th Again behind Middlesborough/Bolton or Spurs.

He's hardly a clay court specialist although he should have closed the match out.

carra is hardly overrated. stevie finnan is starting to play like he can. riise is a phenomenon. dudek usually plays well when it matters - few keepers can pull of the reaction saves he is capable of (so what if few fluff as embrassingly) gerrard is probably the most complete player in the premiership. alonso is one of the best distributors in the premiership. cisse is a proven goalscorer and given the season he's had he's done remarkably. baros is at his best as a second striker, he can drive into the box but he shouldnt be up there on his own.

as for houllier's buys - rafa has shown there not actually that misguided. biscann played well in the absence of alonso. traore is hardly playing badly. kewell has been injured - and not had the best of games, but that doesnt detract from his will, skill and passion for football.

liverpool have the basis or a great team, but the rest isn't that far behind. but when your playin in the prem, the quality difference is hugely exaggerrated.

Most of our players, come to think of it, were Houllier buys. He cocked up when signing players like Diouf etc, but he also made amazingly astute buys as well. Amazing players turned mediocre under his wing? Heskey, Kewell, Dudek, Baros, Kirkland. The list goes on. His most successful buys? Hyypia, Riise, Cisse, Hamann. There are others. Take the rough with the smooth.

Methinks you've just watched the final, and nothing else. Before I even start to get stuck in, all of Cisse, Xabi, Nunez, Josemi & Kewell have had prolonged injuries this season.

If you think that Carra is overrated, why bother thinking at all? His little finger probably has more passion and club allegiance than your whole squad put together. You know what? You sound exactly like another bitter blue. He's the reason why we got to the final in the first place. Whenever we're in danger, he was the one to make the vital blocks every time. He twice kept out Juve, he twice foiled Drogba & Chelsea. He's marshalled our defense heroically, and has had a major effect on the other back 3. Wednesday night he was dying in that match. Many players would have been crying for the stretcher. He had severe cramp in both legs, yet still shouted at the stretcher to go away - before getting up to put his body on the line within 30 seconds again. My player of the season, without a doubt.

Cisse is not the ballhogwhen you're at 70% fitness, come into a game like this one, it's the last part of extra time, of course you're gonna run and just keep running. If you bothered to watch any other games with him featuring, the Villa game for example, the first thing he did was have an eye on goal. The second? Play someone else in. Fastest player in the french squad, powerful, good shot, not afraid to put his body on the line.

Xabi Alonso is sheer class. Amazing player. At the age of 22, he's a regular in the spanish national team ffs. Before he came to us, he was being romanced by Madrid, Man U etc. He only went missing in the first half, because Pirlo, Gatusso, Kaka & co were cutting him out. He isn't a holding midfielder, he wasn't the one who should be tracking down Kaka. That's Hamann's job. Once again, bother to watch any premeirship game, and you'll see it is his passing that slices through defenses. When he doesn't play, we halve our creativity.

Nunez, Josemi, Kewell. Nunez was a makeweight in the Owen deal. He wasn't wanted, and he was still suffering from broken bones when he flew over here from Madrid. He's not the most gifted of RW, but he'd be good enough to walk into many premiership teams. Josemi was a quick £2m signing. Att he start of the season, he looked like the premierships best buy. Then he broke a few bones, and he hasn't been able to force out Finnan. Kewell is an enigma. Prodigy at Leeds, turned into lazy buggar here. He's another who's been out for a lot of the time, but it's agreed that he possesses some of the best talent we have. Interestingly it's Smicer who is the most technically gifted, according to the players. Wednesday night was long overdue, and he'll be an Anfield legend in years to come.

I don't think there's any doubt about Gerrard. He showed why he's the best midfielder in the country (Lampard can f off). Nobody can pick up a team and drag it over the line like he can. Did you know that he had cramp for mostof the extra time? He still got the better of a fresh Serginho, playinmg at RWB ffs! Garcia is something of a talisman for us. 5'7, yet always creeping up and doing something breathtaking. He may be a little lightweight for the prem, but he's shown us what he can do in europe. Juventus & Chelsea can tell you that, for sure.

We have many top draw players, and many others who are proud to pull on the red jersey. And I'm proud of them.

I really don't think you're in any position to doubt Rafa Benitez's achievement. He's bought european glory back to Liverpool which hsn't happened in 20 years. The kopites love him, the players adore him. It was his name that was sang loudest of all in Turkey, just you remember that. We've found someone who is fit to fill Shankley's boots. We will be buying some quality over the summer. We need it. However, winning the Champions league (by means of beating Leverkusen, Juventus, Chelsea and AC Milan) in some style will make us very attractive. There's a chance that we will have made £60m by winning the thing. A lot of that will go on the stadium, but we'll have plenty of money for transfers. On top of that, we will be in the Champions League next season. It'd make a mockery out of UEFA's prized competition if the champion's couldn't defend their crown. Not only that, but they know where their bread's buttered when it comes to marketing and revenue. Just so that you're not under any doubts or misapprehensions that Rafa is at all satisfied with just this set of players, or only this european title:

Suitable transfers for Liverpool: Brazillians (i reckon liverpool lack enough flair), Ramos to replace Traore, Reina to replace Dudek (hate me), Baros sold (as quickly as possible), Kewell traded for Jerome Rothen of PSG. El Hadji Diouf returned.
Just goes to show how little you know about football. PSG would never fall for Kewell for Rothen. Diouf is the biggest disgrace ever to grace Anfield, we'll take the £4m an run. Agree about Reina and Baros, but who wouldn't?

Ramos isn't even a left back! Are you Houllier in disguise?

It's soo funny how opinions can change of players. I remember a few weeks ago where liverpool fans would jeer traore and dudek..actually the latter far more. Now that he had 1 day of glory, he's the best goalkeeper in the world. Kewell has been injured yes,..but what has he ever done of note when he wasn't injured for liverpool. Cisse...u still haven't proved he's not a ballhog. Proven goalscorer...yes..in france but not in england..he scored 2 in his last premierleague game but 1 was a penalty, other was pretty straight forward. He didn't make much of an impression early on in the season and I predict the same later in the new saeson. I predict the next drogba. However, I must say I would prefer him to Baros any day. I understand that being liverpool fans, it's not your fault that your looking through rose tinted glasses all the time, but Baros as a good second striker  They would do better putting scott carson as second striker!

i never sed dudek is the best and traore is the best. ur chattin crap....i hope they still leave adn half hour team is new next season. But u cant take anything away from them for thier amazing CL triumph. Even the TIMES has it as 'the greatest comeback in football history' today.

God, I hope Traore doesn't leave. He's an excellent sub - can play on the elft or in the centre. Nobody dislike's him, and if they do they're not true fans, it's called affectionate ridicule. The same goes for Dudek. We know he's got it in him, in fact he did a few seasons ago.
