I don't know and I couldn't care less tbh.
My parents tried explaining but it didn't become any clearer.
Plus, they couldn't care less either.
Except of course that they hate it.

The lighter your skin the better you are, supposedly. Some people are born to be toilet cleaners.

there are people in my family like my brother/moth for instance are white and there is people like me in the family that are dark... as opposed to other family members...
The caste system is mainly found in India, not in Pakistan.

I'm from Pakistan, there's no way you can call the differences "small"

Mainly, the caste system places restrictions on how people can spend their lives. People aren't allowed to marry outside of their caste, and many schools/colleges have quotas for each caste. Jobs are even restricted based on caste.

well it is I am sure I am not the only one who can relate to Indians, begalis etc...more so than anyone else...cos the similarities are stronger..

There are differences like religion, the fact that indians stick salt in tea while pakistannis stick to sugar and have more of a lychee chai etc...our curries are different, indian will stick coconut milk, while Pakistannis dont and have it a bit more spicy and alot oilier etc...

Why generalise? And we are different, hence why partition happened. But i wouldn't be surprised if some pakistani's belong to indian castes which probably links back way before partition. I swear castes are forbidden in Pakistan anyway.

Skin colour has nothing to do with the Caste System, but it is considered 'better' to be light skinned in some Asian culture. You'll find people of light and dark complexions in high castes.

Yup, loads of differences.
And in answer to your question.. If you don't know, (i.e. all the info on the caste system hasn't been drilled into you from birth) then you don't need to worry

I am not worrying...I just want to know though...what am I...I am just curious...

There weren't many dark skins in government a while back to my knowledge, nor were there any light skins in cleaning roles.
That's probably because individuals born into lower castes become darker more due to the environment they live in. I dont get what you're saying.. .. that the caste system is genetic and everyone born into higher castes are automatically light? :lolwut:

From my recollection, Dalits are the lowest class there is. They're the "cleaners" and are only allowed to marry within their own class, and are downtrodden. Can't help you more though. Why not look it up on wikipedia? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caste_system#Caste_in_India

Isn't the indian caste different though as it is based on Hindu culture?

In Pakistan, I beleive it varies from state to state... Baluchistan and Afghania (NWFP) have tribes, Mirpur Punjab, and Sindh have caste but they are completely different from each other...I specifically wanna know the Pakistanni Punjabi caste and find out what I am...

Well I know it's to do with region, tribes and so on, but seeing as skin colour is one of the main things that ties you to your caste it's the easiest way to seperate the higher castes from the lower castes surely?

pakistan has seriously monetary and fiscal and political problems right now there is no caste in pakistan just hunger and earthquakes im personally donating 100 this month to them. Pakistan is just not pakistan anymore its fell behind, way behind.
