Most Arts and Humanities students are funded by the AHRC (research council), their university, or are self-funded. Some might also be able to get partial funding from relevant organisations. Generally, there is less funding for A&H projects than STEM projects.

yeah that's what I was thinking too. I have tried to apply last year for the AHRC funding but didn't work out. That's why I am trying to find out how to make the application better

Did you ask for feedback on your application? I believe the AHRC does allow you to apply for funding whilst you're doing your PhD, but that's risky if you don't want to end up self-funding the whole duration.
