MSc Psychology

Hello! Is anyone enrolled on the MSc Psychology course at Birmingham City university starting in January 2022? I know it’s distance learning but would be great to speak to anyone else who is getting ready to start the course!

Hi i am starting in January as well
Hello!

I've just finished my MSc in Psychology, online, but at another institution, I am sure you are going to love your course. As someone who hadn't done Psychology before (my background is Sociology) it really did de-mystify a lot of what Psychology is and what it is for to me.

As a bit of quick advice, I would get used to using the Universities online system for accessing journals quickly as you will need it. Also, don't be intimidated by some of the research methods content which typically appears early on (everyone gets a bit nervous with that)

Hi Jo! Ahh it’s great to find someone else who is starting! We should set up a group chat or something? Also, do you know the exact start date? I can’t find it anywhere.

Lulugs, have you started at the BCU? I'm looking at this Uni for psychology master conversion as well. Would you recommend? Any feedback appreciated, thx.
Jo.. have you started at BCU? I'm considering doing my psychology master conversion there, and would appreciate any feedback. Thx

Hi @Journeyofsmiley,

I'm currently in my third and final year doing Psychology undergrad at BCU, and I absolutely love it. As I type this thread, I had just submitted formative drafts for my Lifetime Psychology, and Counselling modules.

One of the things I love most about the psychology course is how varied and engaging it is. The modules cover everything from understanding human behavior to more specialized areas like forensic and health psychology. The lecturers are really supportive and passionate about their subjects, which makes learning so much more enjoyable. Plus, there’s a lot of focus on developing practical skills, which is great for future careers or further study!

BCU itself has a fantastic community feel, and the campus facilities are modern and well-equipped. The city of Birmingham is vibrant and full of opportunities, so there’s always something to do outside of studying too.
If you’re considering BCU or just have any questions about student life here, feel free to ask—I’d be happy to help!
