Hector is walking to school. He sees cars passing him, but even seconds later he cannot remember any of them.
On the way home. Hector pays attention and starts a list of cars in his head: red Vauxhall, green VW, cream mini etc. Soon he finds that although he can remember the first few cars, he can’t remember many more. When he gets home he can still recall the red Vauxhall, the green VW and the cream mini but the only other cars he can remember are the last few before he reached his house.
Question: Discuss how the multi-store model of memory can explain Hector’s experience. You must make reference to the context in your answer (8 marks)
