not sure whether or not to go straight into an art degree or do a foundation first. will I stick out due to age on an art foundation course?

Although on a foundation course the ages might skew a little closer to school oeaber age, fundamentally you're basically at the same stage of your life and basically indistinguishable from an 18/19/20 year old in pretty much all respects. So it won't make a difference.

One thing to note is you will need to pay fees for a standalone art foundation (FAD course) if you are over the age of 19; you might be able to get an Advanced Learner Loan for this though.

If it's a foundation year integrated into the degree programme then the above point on funding doesn't apply. Also in that case there will probably be a more diverse range of ages represented as well.
