Bmus Guildhall jazz audition

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew what the musicianship component of the guildhall jazz audition consisted of? Is it mainly theory and if so.. what sort of grade standard was it? x
My son is doing his audition next Friday so can let you know then. He's applying to study Jazz Saxophone. Tomorrow he submits his composition and transcription 8 days ahead of the audition.

The advice the Head of Jazz gave him at his school was as follows:

Notation plus commentary
Submit some notation and a short commentary. This could be:
A score or lead sheet of a piece you have composed, together with some notes about the piece (maybe describing the harmony, how you developed your melodic/rhythmic ideas etc.)
Notation of your transcription (see 3 below) together with a short analysis of it.
A page of preparation for soloing on one of the repertoire pieces perhaps outlining guide
tones, short phrases from solos you have heard on this piece etc.
These are only suggestions we would like to see how you use music notation and the language you use to describe it. Hand-written music or computer notation are both acceptable.
Please submit these as PDFs at least one week before your audition to [email protected], quoting your application reference number.

Transcription
Performance of an excerpt (minimum 32 bars) of a solo you have transcribed. You should perform this along with the original recording please bring this on a device with a 3.5mm output jack.

Thanks! He had the audition for Trinity this Monday and absolutely loved it! The 'vibe' according to him was fantastic and the rhythm section who accompanied him were amazing musicians. Monday is RAM and then Friday Guildhall. Will drop you a note to let you know more about the musicianship component when he lets me know.

It went well although he said that the Panel did not give anything away. Good news today, he received an offer so he's one happy chap. Just waiting for Trinity and RAM to come back.

There was none at all. He played a tune from the 'A' list and one from the 'B' list. Then had do perform 32 bars of a solo that he had transcribed to the actual recording. Finally an interview about his aspirations, what he thought he needed to work on and a few more questions. He also had to submitted a noted composition prior to the audition He didn't get any questions about the composition which surprised him. There were no other musicianship questions or papers to do.
