Please don't double / triple post as it's against TSR rules. Just post once in the right place (which is where we are now) and give it some time.

I did not do my Law degree in the UK, but would think that it may be more important to write about why you were interested in human rights law and corporate law, and what steps you have taken to further your interests in both fields - e.g. reading cases, legal commentary by academics, developments in overall trends.

Also, the study/focus of human rights law and corporate law are quite different. You might be interested in exploring why you have specifically addressed these two areas in your personal statement (instead of e.g. corporate law and contract law, which tends to be a more conventional combination).

It's best to show interest in more than one area of a subject

It's great not to limit yourself so early on when you have yet to study all the areas of law in depth, so I would say it is fine for you to talk about your interest in both HR and corporate law and generally anything else that interests you in law. I did not specify any specific type of law in my PS for law two years ago and all went well still.

Hi there,

I hope you're well

It's great to hear that you spoke about your interests in both Human Rights law and Corporate law - it gives an indication of your motivations as to why you want to do a law degree. Don't worry about specifying the specific field you want to go in, many people don't at your stage (I'm a third year law student, and I am still unsure as to what area I want to go in!) so don't fret about being too specific. As long as you talked about some of your interests, and why they are your interests, then this is a great addition to your personal statement.

Best of luck to you,

Hello. Hope you are well! It’s fine to talk about both of your interests in your personal statement - you are not expected to know exactly what field you want to go into and this will likely change as you study law. I went into law thinking I want to specialise in human rights and now am much more interested in family law. What is more important is that you can demonstrate that you are interested in law which both of these interests will help you show.

Good luck!
