I’m currently in year 12. I want to study dentistry in the future, and my top aim is to study at kings college. Although i am studying my 3 subjects at the moment, i have already taken a language A level back in year 11. Since this was done outside the two-year time period, would it still be valid??

It won’t be valid no, for the reason you stated.

I did figure it wont be valid for entering as a grade into uni, but would it still put me ahead as i’ve got an A*, showing that i’ve put time and effort into another subject? For example would stating this in my personal statement make it a bit more impressive? Because clearly just for completing the course earlier cannot mean that i wont be credited for it at all… it’s still an A level thus it would still be to my benefit in some way?

That’s a pity, it’s good that I didn’t do my Persian alevel then. It’s unfortunate that universities don’t deem it valid. But I think it’s still good to mention in your ps.

What that’s so unfair that it wouldn’t be considered valid if you have sat your A Level as an exam and all the other things, just because it wasn’t in year 12-13!

Mentioning subjects that you take/took at school for a dentistry PS generally is a waste of time better spent reflecting on work experience and extra-curriculars.

You will still have to add it to your qualifications on the UCAS application form, but it won’t form or give you any advantage towards an offer.
