Applying to Oxbridge after a gap year

Is it worth applying to Oxford or Cambridge after a gap year?

Are the chances of the getting in lower?

Thank you!

What subject and college? I think for the vast majority of subjects, you are at no disadvantage at all if you apply after a gap year. In fact, if you have your grades as achieved rather than predicted, they can have more certainty that you are a strong candidate. I think the only course I would be wary of doing a gap year for is Maths at Cambridge, as I think some colleges say they don’t prefer that.

Which A-Level subjects have you studied and what grades have you achieved?

What degree do you want to apply for?

Have you decided on the college you want to apply to at either Oxford or Cambridge?

The admissions tutors will see you as a strong applicant with your A* and A grades achieved but you will have to explain what you did during your gap year.
