LOL. Nope my nose just becomes slightly runny even though I have no signs of a cold.
Wouldn't happen if you just ate Chicken Korma I bet. But spicy stuff does unblock your nose for some reason. Well it seems to. Maybe it's a self-defence mechanism by the curry... if you have a blocked nose you can't taste it, therefore it unblocks your nose so that you can taste it. Clever. And what a scientific explanation. *proud*

Phew, I'm glad it's not just me then. I think it is because it is hot, even though I only ever eat mild curries I couldn't face a hot one, but I still don't understand the connection between the curry being hot and my nose running, as normally my nose runs when I'm cold lol.
Its just one of your body's natural reactions to heat

It was a very mild chicken tikka, that's the hottest curry i can eat and it's not all that hot. I don't have a blocked nose though! My nose iis working fine lol, it's a strange thing.

That is ridiculously irrelevant to the thread.

i think the spicyness has a very strong odour (dont rub eyes after curry) and this has the same effect as like vicks or something

i'm telling you its not
That happens to me as well! I think its to do with the heat cos i sometimes get that when i'm eating hot soup or something as well.

probably something to do with blood vessels dilating which promotes fluid going to the area. Decongestants make the blood vessels constrict which is why they can help a runny nose.

But then I could be talking rubbish.

Something in the curry must cause excess secretion of lacrimal fluid (tears) by the lacrimal glands. This flows over the conjunctival surface, drains into e the Lacrimal canaliculi via the lacrimal puncta at the corner of your eyes, the fluid then drains into the lacrimal sac then into the nasolacrimal duct which hence causes the runny nose.
The same principal which causes your nose to run when you cry.
