chemistry a level alkenes

the question says give the molecular formula of anethole? but how di i do this? i thought it was cnh2n for cycloalkenes but the answer is C10H12O

You’ve given the general formula for alkenes.

CnH2n
is the general formula of alkenes or cycloalkanes.

However, anethole is neither of those. It has a benzene ring, an alkene group and an ether moiety.
