Failed resit placement on PGCE

I need some advice on a situation I am currently in. September 2020 I enrolled onto a PGCE course. On my first placement I withdrew because I was being treated unfairly by the staff and I felt uncomfortable returning within that environment. On my second placement, I was put on a NTI towards the end of my placement and was told I have failed so I would have to resit.

Therefore in October I started my resit placement and I have been told again I have failed placement. I have passed the PGCE but I am not being awarded the qts. The reason is I had covid back in November so I missed 10 days of my placement. Then I came back and last week I missed 5 days due to a severe ear infection due to a perforated ear drum. I had a meeting with my tutors and was told I could not return to the school because it was affecting the children due to my “erratic absences”. Which is stupid because I cannot help being unwell. So I have been told I cannot do another resit placement because there are no mitigating circumstances.

I was wondering if anyone had any advise of what I can do to get my QTs. I think it is shocking they have told me I have to pass PGCE without QTs! I am currently ongoing to appeal this situation as I believe this is unfair.

Thank you I really hope I can do something to get to where I want to be.

This sounds awful, you have made the right decision to appeal. They should just extend your resit placement if it is just your absence because of sickness. Did you get doctors certificate? If you did you can use this as proof. I hope all goes well.
