Urgent: social work help

Hello

Anyone with experience of working in social work settings or have knowledge of social work?

I wanted to find out what is the process of a social worker closing a case and who workers behind a social worker visiting the family.

I am not a social worker. They would probably close a case, with agreement from their line manager, when they have concluded the matter. For example, if they were allocated the case to support a person who is moving from residential care into supported living then the social worker might close it when the person has moved in, tenancy checked and signed, payments for care set up, all benefits have been successfully claimed, and care is up and running correctly, etc. The level of support may depend on whether the person acts for themselves, has someone to act for them or if the authority which the social worker is employed by is the appointee/deputy.

Are you asking who also works behind the scenes with a social worker? This partly depends on the type of case and the access the social worker has to other workers. It could be a specialist benefit, housing or debt worker. The social worker might liaise with members of the medical profession on a case. They will probably have admin support.

They will have regular supervision meetings and will discuss cases at those.
