To what extent was Oliver Cromwell responsible for the failure of republican government in the years 1649-1660?
We have been set this essay question, and I was just wondering if anyone could help as to what the six paragraph areas should be?
For my 'for' argument I have three - basically political, religious and military.
But for my 'against' argument, I'm completely stumped. I was going to do fear of radicals, failure of governments prior to the Protectorate, and military divisions (especially 58-60). I don't really like either of these last two, though...
I would be eternally grateful for any responses!
