Apprenticeships and work experienceWatch
Quick guides to apprenticeships
I have great gcse grades and a level grades. I didn’t really fancy university so was looking for a level 6 higher apprenticeship. I was interested in doing one at BAE. I have never had a job however and so have no work experience and was wondering if that would stop me getting a place. Just wondering how important work experience is.
Normally that should not stop you but previous work experience could be very useful due to the skills you can gain that are adaptable to any environment. I am doing a Level 3 IT Apprenticeship and I had no work experience in IT but had work experience in fast foods and restaurants. As an alternative, you can show you have skills such as independence, team worker, motivation etc. when going to college, this could help impress the employer(s).
