In my primary school we had to sit for the entirety of break writing an apology letter for the thing we did that put us in detention.

Boring and pointless, you just stared at a wall for an hour then went home.

High school.

There was a room on the 1st floor by the office the desks had walls so you couldn’t see anyone or anything. I would get sent there too if I was being disruptive in class, the teacher would send you there till the period was over.

I don't remember detention being a thing in primary - we either just got kicked out of lessons or had to do lines. Detention in secondary school was just sitting in a classroom through your break with the teacher.
