A levels 2022

Hi
I'm planning on giving my A levels Chemistry exam as a a private candidate from UK.
How exactly would i do that?
Hi!

It might be worth posting on the 2022 private candidate support group, I'm sure somebody will be able to help!

In principle you 'just' need to find an exam centre willing to accept you as a private candidate - any centre could but not many do - pay them and everything is arranged through them. You can look for possible ones here https://www.jcq.org.uk/private-candidates/ but if you already have a relationship with a centre then try them first. However, it's particularly messy for Chemistry because of the practical endorsement. Which exam board are you using? If you're studying with one of the boards approved for teaching in English schools then do you need to pass the practical endorsement?

Hi
I am using Cambridge International and I'm almost certain they have an option this year to exempt the practical components due to covid. I think for Cambridge you do need a pass in the practicals hence why exemptions are offered.

Using Cambridge helps with the problem of the practicals but fewer centres will be registered to accept candidates for Cambridge as it's not an exam board approved for teaching in UK schools. You are more likely to have to go with one of the centres that specialises in private candidates and these tend to charge more (though this should be more than offset by not needing than undertaking the practicals for the practical endorsement)
