2years ago before getting braces my orthodontist told me I had to get 4 perfectly healthy teeth taken out. I did have a bit if crowding on my lower teeth but my top ones were fine but only wonky. So I had 2 teeth removed from the bottom and 2 from the top. Now My treatment is still ongoing and my teeth are all basically straight (top and bottom) but I have a huge gap on the bottom side of my mouth and I have 2 gaps on the top on my mouth on either side not in the front. I’m wondering now how they will manage to close these huge gaps and if they have taken out far too many teeth. I spoke with them about it at they said that they’re gonna move all my teeth further back in my mouth and they all looked kinda guilty and as if they we missing done important thing out. I’m worried because now even my bite is getting bad and my tounge feels squashed in my mouth and even my facial structure is becoming very bad and sunken in. I already have thin small lip and mouth area with a chin that sticks out too much and I don’t want them to move my teeth bsck further as it will make that look worse.
Aswell as this my sister had the same situation as me aswell before and she went to another orthodontist and they didn’t even need to taken out any teeth they managed just fine with hers.
I don’t know I feel like they took out too many teeth and are trying to hide that they made a mistake and I’m feeling very self conscious. What do u think am I overthinking?

I mean, you can't do much now seeing as they have taken the teeth out. You'll just have to wait and see what the final result is. They usually take out teeth like this due to over crowding, but they also could've f*cked up, you'll have to wait and see.

Since you're in the middle of your treatment, just be patient. I had a few teeth taken out for braces as well and they're all closed by the end of my treatment. Look up some braces time lapse videos on youtube if you want reassurance.

They may have also done this in anticipation of your wisdom teeth. They should come through during your early 20s (mine have anyway) and will take a good chunk of space!

I’m already 20 and no I don’t think they care about that they’re just pushing all my teeth to the back now that they have probably realised that they took out too many teeth and now I have lots of gaps, and then this will make my features more sunken in I’m so sad

The thing is I want to be patient but if they’ve done something wrong then I’d like to know now but it seems like they won’t tell me 🙈

I really don’t want to wait and see if the results r gonna be what I’m afraid they will, I just feel like they’re not being honest with me 😭

I know u look sexy anyway! There’s people with yellow, black or no teeth at all so it could be worse. It might be worth going to a different orthodontist and see what they say. They’re not gonna be able to give ur teeth back but u might be able to get a nice pay cheque if they say the other guys ****ed up and tried to cover it up.

Remember we’re always a lot more aware of our own looks than anyone else is, and no ones really that bothered if u got a few less teeth than u should. At least u got straight teeth now, mine are have gaps between literally every tooth except one pair on the bottom and they’re and a lil on the wonky side but not enough to qualify for free braces but I still look damn delicious and so do u!

Hello, mum of a son who had SEVEN teeth taken out by the orthodontist a few years back. I double checked with the dentist as I thought they'd made a mistake. But no 7 teeth were removed over 2 days just before Christmas that year. Poor boy couldn't enjoy the Christmas goodies and as well as being very sore he looked like something from a zombie film. However, they were right. He had to have braces for quite a while but he has the perfect teeth now, and a really beautiful smile ( I'm his mum so am biased obviously !) So the pain and hard work were worth it. Try not to worry and don't compare yourself to your sister. Everyone is different. I'm sure that they know exactly what they're doing. If there was a problem they would have told you. And they would also put it right. Orthodontists are specialists who train for years- I'm sure you'll have the perfect smile soon. You probably are overthinking it. Hope this helps xx

I had that too. They should work on it. In my case it took another year to work on that. Speak to the orthodontist about it. Don't worry too much.

They put different thingies around the teeth to move them so I won't have that gap.
