What do you do when you are feeling upset and nothing is going in your favour?

Some days really are like a big stick through thick mud. It's just a case of recognising when you are up against one. They are well known because the harder you try the worse they get.

Once you have recognised its one of those days and everything is going wrong, just stop trying. Sit down, have a cup of tea (or coffee or whatever floats your boat) Stop working and just stop absolutely. Take 5 minutes out. All around you will be madness and mayhem but you can now just sit looking at the world and having your cup of tea as a spectator rather than participant - having temporarily removed yourself from chaos. Its ok to feel whatever you want to feel so don't worry about that. Feel sorry for yourself too (just for a short time)

After this time out - regroup. You may not have a job, you may not have friends, you may not have money or food or family. But you can always have your sanity. Sleep on it because tomorrow is another day. Enjoy your cup of tea. Do the absolute minimum to get through the rest of the day. You are upright and breathing and anything else is a bonus.
