Is international relations a pointless degree?

Genuine question. I really like the look of ir but how easy is it to get a job afterwards? I keep on seeing videos on YouTube calling it worthless so idk what to think. Or do I pick the safe option of law with a masters in international law? As this looks very interesting too! Many thanks.

Don't think negatively about any degree. You will bring yourself down.

With the knowledge you gain it could land you a successful job.
Plenty of jobs just ask for either a 2:1 or an Honours degree in any subject. If it's something that interests you and you are likely to be motivated to do well, then it's certainly not a waste.

I am presuming that these naysaying youtubers don't work in recruitment?

There is all kinds of toxic vibes across the Internet.

What you want to and what you enjoy matters to you and not to anyone else.

This is all about putting yourself first.

Yeah, I'm sure snobbery draws views which is why those views are prevalent.

Never mind the fact that once you've been working for a year, you'll rarely ever discuss where or what you studied.
