Odds of getting into Edinburgh?

Hey,

I applied to Edinburgh as my most ambitious/dream choice in terms of grades and course, specifically for social anthropology. I have 4/5 offers back except from Edinburgh, which are predicted to send out slower replies anyway from my research, and I'm quite literally dying in anticipation. As impatient and petty as this is, could anybody tell what my odds are of getting in?

I'm predicted ABB, with also an extra A in EPQ, which I'm aware is the lower side of the scale. For GCSEs I got one 9, four 8s, three 7s, one 6, and one 5. From last year's entry rates, apparently anthropology has between 64-67% acceptance rates, and the overall Uni has around 50%. Was just unsure, once again because of my grades. Do you think I have any odds of getting in? Do you know anyone with similar grades, subjects?

Thanks!

Check whether you are eligible for the plus flag offer (contextual) on their website.

Which social anthropology course is it because I think there are two at Edinburgh and their entry requirements differ for each?

If you mean the widening access/contextual data pages, I don't think I am. The general entry grades are supposedly within the AAA-ABB range, so I thought I at least had a chance.

That's strange - aside from joint subjects, the only one turning up for me is MA Social Anthropology. The general entry requirements are a range, between AAA-ABB.

They only give the lower range requirement to contextual applicants. Edinburgh have also released a statement saying that they've had to go beyond published ranges when making offers this year due to the increase in applications.
It might not be what you want to hear, but I'd say it's probably unlikely - never zero, though, so you never know! Anthro is quite a niche course so you may get lucky. Fingers crossed

They automatically filter you out so maybe choose another University since you don't meet the standard or contractual requirements.

Or else, you'd be wasting a choice.

You could apply for the UCL anthropology course since their cintextual offer is BBC - check whether you're eligible for that. Maybe BSc Social Anthropology at LSE too if your GCSEs are mostly 7s to 9s and you meet their of contextual requirements.

Ince LSE specialises in social sciences if you meet their entry requirements you might be better off studying there. Though, you'd also have to take into account whether you genuinely like the course and the University.

Of course, I wouldn't just be basing around Edinburgh, it'd just be ideal. I have acceptances from Manchester, Birmingham, Aberdeen, and Oxford Brookes. It's just confusing, since ABB meets the "lower grade level", which has the chance to be accepted into lower pursued courses as it says online.

I did initially consider both UCL and LSE, but crossed them off the application from distance and living costs. My UCAS has already been sent off again with most offers back, again it's just Edinburgh I'm waiting on. Thank you for the suggestions though

ABB is for widening participation applicants only and is never given to standard applicants. It's not a range, it's either one or the other.

I'm currently interested in doing the same subject possibly at Edinburgh. Did you get in?
