Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to read my questions. Apologies, its very very long.
My degree classification is: 360 points
1st yr- qualifying year. 15 credits x 8 modules
2nd yr- 15% . 15 credits x 8 modules
3rd yr ( placement ) - 10%
Placement contains different assessments, the largest mark goes towards a written piece/ presentations.
Final yr- 75%. 15 credits x 8 modules
1st yr I got a third class/ pass. 47% overall. 56 /120 credits.
In 2nd year now. Waiting on results. Still got second half of year to fix my grades. I need to achieve a 2:1 this yr. Its not looking so great at the moment not going to lie.
I REALLY WANT A FIRST FOR MY DEGREE.😭
Would anybody be able to work out;
A) if i got a 2:1 for this year if i would be able to get a first overall considering i get a 2:1 in placement and final year for a first overall.
B) if i got 2:2 this year, 2:1 for placement and final year for a first overall.
c) if covid restrictions happen again then i cant do placement. My degree classification would be 25%: 75% 2nd and final yr. If i got a 2:2 this year would i be able to get a first ? Alternatively if i got a 2:1 this year would i still be able to get a first ?
Also i don't understand the weighting e.g
56 grade for yr/120 credits x 15 % = 7
What on earth does the 7 stand for in terms of the final grade? A first is 70% above.
Does the 7 mean i have 63% more to achieve for a first overall or does this mean something else?
Regards.
Much appreciation for your time. Any help is useful.

First year is irrelevant for your degree classification. All you had to do was pass it.
All options are theoreticalky possible though the worse you do this year the less likely a First becomes.
