Hi! I was wondering if anyone here is currently on the film production course and how they feel about it/what they think? I'm thinking of making Portsmouth my first choice but I want to hear from students first. I really want to have a focus on production and really getting stuck in.

Hi! pepperfreckles

I would contact the faculty and ask to speak to a student rep from the course you would like to study. They should be able to then get you in contact with a current student on the course.

We also have an applicant day soon for students who have Portsmouth as one of their choices, and you should then get an invite to the day. You'll be able to answer questions here too and get to know more about your course.

I hope this helps!
Best wishes

Hi!
I am currently in my second year studying film production at Portsmouth and I love it!
The course has both the practical aspects and theory side of things but, if you want even more hands on elements, there are always ways to get involved with 2nd and 3rd year productions and other film challenges such as our 48hr film challenge.
In first year there is about a 60/70% practical focus as they really want to help you get experience in all the different areas so that you can choose your options for 2nd year.
In 2nd year you get to choose which modules you do so, dependent on what you choose, there can be an even more practical, production based focus.
If you have any other questions let me know and I'll do my best to answer them!
